Andy Martin is an Anglo-Australian singer/songwriter & producer. Born in the United Kingdom, his family emigrated to Port Melbourne in Australia. Soon after, he was enrolled in the same school as John Farnham (Yarraman Park State School) in the suburbs of Noble Park. During the 60's, Melbourne had only two television channels: 7 & 9, with channel O being added later, making a grand total of three! Compared with the hundreds of channels available today these seem very austere beginnings indeed.
This was a time of national self-awarement & Australia quickly asserted itself as a hotbed of creativity in the broadcast & radio mediums to rival & surpass anything that had formerly been imported from the United States of America. Against this backdrop of rapid change, Andy Martin spent his formative years & the songwriter in him was taking form during those very same beginnings of radio & television 'down under'.
